Narrative
This piece was created by Paulina Schuler in collaboration with Dr. Jeffrey Glover's lab at Georgia State University. His lab holds a collection of archaeological pieces that were collected by GSU archaeologists in the late 1970s when the MARTA rail lines were initially constructed. This is the largest single collection of artifacts associated with Atlanta's past. Included in this sizable collection are many historic glass bottles, which were the inspiration for this project. In fact, many of the bottles used in this art project were recovered from Atlanta's first large-scale municipal dump site, which was in the Gulch by the new Mercedes Benz Stadium. These bottles have been brought to life in "Atlanta," and echo our city's skyline from the famous photography location, Jackson Street bridge! This piece was created by photographing the bottles and processing them digitally in Adobe Photoshop and Procreate.
